What is Collagen and Why it is Important

What is Collagen?

Collagen is the most abundant protein in the body and serves as a building block for connective tissue. It makes up roughly one-third of your body's protein composition, and is a major component for skin elasticity, bone density, tendons, muscles, and cartilage. As you age, your body gradually produces lower amounts of collagen, which can cause poor joint mobility, brittle bones, skin wrinkles, and weaker hair and nails.

Why should Collagen be important to me?

Collagen should be important to you because, more than likely, your daily diet isn’t providing your body with enough collagen. Unfortunately, collagen has been typically removed from today’s diets because we no longer consume all parts of animals.

Without proper amounts of Collagen, you can experience stiffer joints, achy muscles, thin hair, and wrinkles. Adding a Collagen source to your daily routine can support these primary benefits.

  • Healthy, skin, hair, and nails
  • Helps maintain strong bones, joints and ligaments
  • Promotes elasticity and strength of skin
  • Helps strengthen the gut wall

What makes BPN’s Collagen different?

Our Collagen places quality first.

  • It is Clean Collagen® verified meaning it is produced with zero pesticides, antibiotics, hormones, glutens, and other harmful ingredients.
  • Our Collagen is sourced from grass-fed bovine collagen peptides that supply 20 grams of protein per serving.
  • Our Collagen is free of allergens, GMOs, BSE, and rBGH.
  • Truly an all-natural supplement.
  • Rigorously tested by accredited third-party laboratories to ensure it's always 100% pure.
  • Consists of Type I and Type III Collagen.

What is Type I and Type III Collagen?

Type I collagen is present in beef/bovine collagen powder or peptides. It is a nutrient that composes 80% of the skin’s dermis layer and helps give structure and firmness to a person’s skin.

Type III is the second most common type of collagen present in human tissue. It is truly unique because it is slowly replaced by Type I collagen as we get older.

Questions you might have about Collagen

What is the difference between Collagen Protein and Whey Protein?

  • Whey protein is sourced from cow’s milk and Collagen is sourced from bovine hide. They contain different amino acid profiles, which gives each protein different functions in the body. Whey protein is a complete protein, and Collagen is not. Collagen is high in the amino acids glycine, proline, and hydroxyproline.

How do I take Collagen?

  • Because our Collagen is unflavored, you can intake it in many ways. We recommend mixing 1 scoop in 8-10 ounces of water, milk, smoothie, coffee, or your favorite beverage, daily.

  • Can this be mixed with all the other Bare Supplements? Or is this better on it’s own? With food or without food? Any particular time of day to take? Or anytime in the day? Sorry for all the questions, I am new to supplements and the world of fitness. As someone who doesn’t eat meat I have been researching this for a long time. But, hard for me to trust other supplement companies out there. I trust Bare Performance, so I will be purchasing this when it comes available. Thanks in advance for your help in this matter. G1M all the way!!
